Episode Notes
What if one of the greatest challenges facing our society isn't a lack of technology, opportunity, or communication—but a lack of genuine human connection?
We live in a world where we are more connected digitally than at any other time in history. Yet millions of people feel increasingly isolated, invisible, and alone. And perhaps most troubling, loneliness doesn't discriminate. It affects young people, older generations, successful executives, caregivers, and even those surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues.
In this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT, we welcome Patrick Duriaux, international bestselling author of Where Is Alice?, a certified Intelligent Leadership Master Coach, and an international human resources and organizational development leader with more than 20 years of experience.
Patrick's journey began with a seemingly ordinary conversation with Alice, his 84-year-old neighbor in Zurich, Switzerland. That encounter opened his eyes to a growing human crisis and ultimately inspired a mission to help people rediscover the importance of belonging, dignity, and meaningful relationships.
What began as one conversation became a book, a movement called BrightBond, and the development of ALTO.cool, an innovative platform designed to bring generations together through shared experiences and genuine human connection.
Throughout our conversation, we explore the hidden epidemic of loneliness, its impact on mental and physical well-being, and why even highly successful individuals can feel profoundly disconnected from the world around them.
We also examine an important leadership question: Are we building organizations where people genuinely feel valued, heard, and connected—or are we unintentionally creating environments where people feel increasingly invisible?
Patrick joins Rich and Maikel on the episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT as we challenge our listeners to reconsider what it means to be connected, the extraordinary value of relationships across generations, and why re-humanizing our workplaces and communities may be one of the most important responsibilities we share.
This is more than a conversation about loneliness. It's a conversation about humanity, leadership, compassion, and the extraordinary difference one person can make simply by recognizing another.
Because sometimes, changing someone's life begins with something as simple as making them feel seen.
